The Executioner’s Tale

Deep in the weeds on various projects so no big post, but there’s a fascinating story over at Publisher’s Weekly about Franz Schmidt, the sixteenth-century executioner of the city of Nuremberg. Apparently Schmidt left a diary, which gives some unusual insight into the life of someone in one of early modern Europe’s more reviled professions. Read about it here.
